Backpacking General Guide

Each patrol should have one compass, one knife, matches or lighter.
There is no additional shakedown this Friday, May 16,
HOWEVER, please arrive at St. Judes at 6:30 am on Saturday, May 17 for gear distribution.

We will hike as two patrols with some distance between each patrol. Each patrol is responsible for their own Sat dinner and Sun breakfast. Sat Lunch and trail snacks are up to each individual. Sun lunch, if needed, will be individual as well. Patrols are welcome to manage lunches as a patrol if so desired. Freeze dried meals from EMS, REI, maybe Sports Authority, etc work well. Read the directions carefully- if the meal calls for using a pan that is one more item to carry. We will need several roof top carriers to transport packs. Our Sunday return time is under review- please let me know if you would have a problem with a 3 pm return.

Begin giving some thought to your menus and the use of lightweight, freeze dried food available at EMS, REI, Sports Authority, sometimes Walmart, and possibly some items at BIgY. Every person is responsible for their own eating utensils- spoon, bowl or deep plate.
